Materials for DIY Flower Crown:

pile of ribbons to be used for making a diy flower crown

First you’ll want to gather up all of your materials. Here’s what you’ll need:

Note: When choosing your ribbons and flowers, feel free to play around and create whatever color schemes you want! These can be super versatile. I obviously chose a pink theme, but do as you like!

1. Measure and cut your wire.

To measure the wire, wrap it twice around your subject’s head so that it rests loosely on their head but isn’t falling down. Cut the wire with a little bit extra just in case. (You can always trim off the excess later.)

2. Fasten wire into a circle.

Twist the wires around each other as tightly as you can to secure them. You can use the pliers to help you with this step. (Don’t worry if some of the wire won’t lay flat on the end. We’ll cover any loose ends with hot glue and ribbon later.)

3. Wrap and glue vine ribbon to the crown.

Now it’s time to add the green vines to your DIY flower crown. Dab some hot glue onto the spot where you twisted the wires together and wrap the end of the vine ribbon around it. Once it dries, continue to wrap the vibe around the rest of your crown as tightly or loosely as you prefer. You can also wrap it multiple times if you want a thicker look. I chose to keep mine on the dainty side.

If you’re not sure, play around with it until you find the look you like. Once you have it wrapped, hot glue the end of the ribbon in place around the twisted area in the back of the crown. This is when you should check to make sure you’ve covered any loose wire ends up with glue and the vine ribbon.

4. Glue the flowers on.

Now it’s time to glue the flowers on! Arrange them however you’d like and glue them into different spots on the wire and ribbon to anchor them. You can do thick or thin flowers all around or just on the front like I did. Whatever you choose, make sure to leave room for the ribbons on the back!

When gluing the flowers, I placed the flower stems between the two wires and put a dab of glue, then would cover it with a vine leaf for extra support.

5. Tie on the ribbons.

Tie on your ribbons at the back of the crown where it comes together with a cow’s hitch knot. Check out how to do that here. (Don’t worry, it’s super simple!)

Conclusion

And that’s it! You’re ready to debut your DIY flower crown AND let everyone know you made it yourself. Want more DIY’s? These floral fairy wings would pair perfectly with your newly created flower crown for the ultimate fairy look!
